Build a Wi-Fi Controlled RC Car

Sparks Lab Kids gives students a hands-on robotics, engineering and STEM summer program: write real code, connect it over Wi-Fi, wire electronics, and take home a working Wi-Fi controlled RC car.

  • C++
  • HTML/CSS/JS
  • Wi-Fi controls
  • Circuits
  • Final race challenge

For Parents

Quick details for parents

Students learn real coding first, then apply Wi-Fi, robotics-style motor control, and electronics as they build a take-home Wi-Fi controlled RC car.

Workshop Outcome

What your child takes home

A working Wi-Fi controlled RC car

Built, wired, coded, tested, and improved by your child during the workshop.

Coding and Engineering Certificate and Prizes

Recognizing hands-on work with coding, Wi-Fi controls, circuits, motors, and troubleshooting.

A clear understanding of how the system works

Students learn how the code, Wi-Fi controls, electronics, power, and movement connect, not just how to follow instructions.

Why Sparks Lab Kids

Coding for Kids With Real Hardware

Families searching for coding classes, robotics classes, engineering classes, or a STEM summer program near Hang Dong can start here. The project stays focused: students learn typed code and then use it to control real hardware.

Real Coding, Real Languages

Students write C++ for the microcontroller and HTML/CSS/JS for the browser control page, not drag-and-drop blocks.

Wi-Fi Makes It Remote

Students code a Wi-Fi access point and browser interface so the car responds to commands from any device.

Electronics Makes It Real

Circuits, motors, and wiring give the code a physical system to control, so students see why each component matters.

A Working Project to Keep

Every student finishes with a working Wi-Fi controlled RC car they built, coded, and can explain with confidence.

Meet the Instructor

Meet August Selke

Our instructor brings hands-on experience in coding, electronics, robotics, and project-based learning. Students are guided step by step as they build, test, debug, and customize their own Wi-Fi controlled RC car.

August Selke

August grew up in the United States and studied at the University of Washington. He brings an American, mastery-focused learning style to the classroom, where students are encouraged to make mistakes without fear and to truly understand how things work, instead of just repeating what they're taught.

Experience
Multiple university hackathons (a winner at his own university), years of hands-on Arduino and electronics work, and coding across many programming languages. Has designed and built many websites.
Teaching
Taught a STEM workshop in Bangkok and in the United States, plus experience tutoring English.
Languages
English and Thai
Education
University of Washington at Seattle, Washington
Teaching style
Patient, practical, and project-based, with the American 'learn by doing' approach: make mistakes safely, debug, and build real mastery.

Upcoming Workshop Components

Robotics and engineering parts students code into a working RC car

Each part supports the coding goal: students learn what the component does, how code controls it, and how to troubleshoot when the car does not behave as expected.

How We Teach

Code, connect, test, improve.

  1. Ask Start with a coding or engineering question students can test.
  2. Build Write code and connect electronics, motors, cameras, and controls.
  3. Test Use observations to find what is failing and why.
  4. Improve Debug, tune, compete, and showcase the final creation.

Reserve or Ask

Reserve coding, robotics or engineering classes near Hang Dong.

Early Bird Tuition: 7,200 THB until June 30, 2026. Regular Tuition: 8,000 THB after June 30, 2026 (save 800 THB).
